The main use of trichloroethylene is in the vapor degreasing of metal parts and industrial surface cleaning. It is also used as an extraction solvent for greases, oils, fats, waxes, and tars, as a chemical intermediate in the production of other chemicals, and as a refrigerant.
Its other uses are in High-tech Ceramic production, Production of Special TCE containing Adhesives, Wool scouring, Asphalt testing, Heat transfer fluid, Agricultural chemicals (non-pesticidal), Functional fluids (closed systems), and as a Process solvent. It is used in consumer products such as typewriter correction fluids, paint removers/strippers, adhesives, spot removers, and rug-cleaning fluids.
