Most of it is used to make epichlorohydrin and glycerin. It is also used in the synthesis of allyl compounds such as allyl alcohol, allyl amines, allyl esters, and polyesters.
Its derivatives are found in varnish, plastics, adhesives, perfumes, pharmaceuticals, and insecticides. It has also been reported to have been used successfully in preparing chelating agents.
