It is used as a solvent in many industries and as an Octane booster in gasoline. It is a chemical intermediate used to produce methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE) and ethyl tert-butyl ether (ETBE), tert-butyl hydroperoxide (TBHP) and used in the manufacture of flotation agents.
