Its primary use is as a solvent in the synthesis of Active Pharmaceutical ingredients (API) and crop protection ingredients. It is also used as a solvent in the production of polyurethane coated textiles such as artificial leather, rain and protection wear, surgical incise films etc. and in the production of synthetic fibres. Its other uses are in the electronic industry, in formulation of mixtures, as gas stabiliser in acetylene cylinders, in the production of medical devices, as cleaning solvent, as laboratory chemical etc.
